I created the new logo for Les Gourmands Farm, a one-acre organic farm in the Skagit Valley of Washington State. The final logo is a combination of hand-drawn, engraving style line art and custom watercolor backgrounds, all painstakingly translated into a flexible vector file.
The delicately rendered full color logo is perfect for business cards, banners, and the web, while the line art can be used by itself for one-color applications like wood-burning or black-and-white printing. The watercolor elements went through a few iterations before they were just right.
Rather than scanning and then vectorizing a complex line drawing, I decided to build the shading completely within Illustrator. I knew that each vegetable in the logo might be used separately and at a large size. So I made use of custom digital brushes to create the vectors digitally from the start, rather than dealing with the messy conversion of a raster image.
